The Esports World Cup 2026 moved to Paris without losing momentum across much of its tournament lineup. Over seven weeks, the festival hosted 25 competitions, with many improving on their 2025 viewership and several setting new EWC-series records. Here, we break down the tournaments that generated the most watch time, drew the largest peak audiences, and recorded the biggest year-over-year changes.

The most watched Esports World Cup 2026 tournaments

Most returning Esports World Cup 2026 tournaments surpassed their previous-year Hours Watched totals, although the drivers varied considerably by title. Expanded fields and longer formats were an important factor for several events. The clearest example was the Counter-Strike event, which doubled in size from 16 to 32 teams. This resulted in substantially more matches, with total airtime rising from 41 to 90.5 hours. The additional broadcast volume helped drive a 93.7% year-over-year increase in Hours Watched — one of the most notable increases given its already substantial audience figures.

Distribution and regional audience shifts also played an important role. The PUBG Mobile World Cup 2026 increased its Hours Watched by more than 71.5%, with dedicated promotional Facebook broadcasts providing a major additional source of viewership. The ALGS: 2026 Split 1 Playoffs and OWCS 2026 Midseason Championship events attracted strong viewership from Japan, while the League of Legends and Call of Duty tournaments proved particularly popular among local French audiences.

The ALGS: 2026 Split 1 Playoffs and OWCS 2026 Midseason Championship events attracted strong viewership from Japan, while the League of Legends and Call of Duty tournaments proved particularly popular among local French audiences.

Year-over-year results were more volatile toward the lower end of the ranking. For tournaments with smaller overall audiences, the addition or absence of a single major broadcast channel or community caster can have a much larger proportional effect on total viewership.

It is worth noting that neither Fortnite nor TrackMania was featured at the 2025 Esports World Cup, which is why both tournaments are marked as “NEW” in the table. Fortnite last appeared at EWC in 2024, when its viewership was considerably lower. Compared with that edition, both its Hours Watched and Peak Viewers increased roughly sixfold in 2026.

The most popular Esports World Cup 2026 tournaments

Only four tournaments surpassed one million Peak Viewers, with the MLBB Mid Season Cup 2026 once again leading the EWC at 2.89 million. However, the tournament fell short of its roughly 3 million peak from 2025. The absence of leading Indonesian and Filipino teams from the grand final likely contributed to the lower peak. As a result, the 2026 MLBB event fell short of setting a new EWC-series viewership record.

Still, nearly half of the EWC 2026 tournaments improved on their previous-year Peak Viewers totals. The PUBG Mobile event recorded the largest absolute year-over-year gain in Peak Viewers among returning tournaments, reaching 1.79 million concurrent viewers. This was not only a new record for the EWC series, but also the highest peak achieved by any PUBG Mobile tournament in the past five years.

The League of Legends, Counter-Strike, Overwatch, Call of Duty, and Rocket League tournaments also delivered strong results, setting new Peak Viewers records for their respective titles within the EWC series. Meanwhile, the Free Fire event recorded the game’s highest peak viewership of any tournament in the past four years.

Dota 2 and Valorant, however, recorded notable declines in Peak Viewers. In Dota 2, the playoff field was heavily concentrated around Russian organizations, with three reaching the semifinals and two meeting in the grand final. This may have narrowed the event’s appeal outside its core Eastern European audience. English, Spanish, and Indonesian broadcasts all declined year over year, indicating that the downturn extended across multiple international language segments.

The situation was somewhat different for Valorant. The absence of popular teams such as Fnatic, Sentinels and Gen.G Esports contributed to weaker viewership, while Karmine Corp and Paper Rex — two of the event’s strongest potential audience drivers — failed to advance beyond the group stage. As a result, the playoffs were missing several teams with large international followings.
